Oshkosh 2010 Interim Report
August 1st, 2010First, an apology for not letting everyone watching the blog know about the Perlan appearance at the Oshkosh airshow. It was only organised at the last minute and the blog was offline until almost the end of the show. We did try to get the word out on Facebook and Twitter but not everybody uses those.
The EAA AirVenture show at Oshkosh is the biggest airshow in the world. The number of aircraft and displays is absolutely incredible. If you spent 5 seconds looking at each aircraft or commercial display and ran between them, you would not see them all in a week. Fortunately for us on the Perlan display, we are just happy to see anyone stop by our display and ask us a few questions.
The Perlan mockup has been a wild hit with the kids at the show. We have had hundreds climb in and out of the cockpit. I think we may have even inspired a few to dream a little bit bigger about a career in science or aviation.
I can’t upload any photos at the moment, so that will have to wait for a later blog post.
…And We’re back!
July 31st, 2010The Perlan web site has had a few difficulties recently and the blog has been offline for some time. It seems we may have lost some recent postings but all the older ones have been restored from backups.
Normal service will resume…
Simulated Flight
April 30th, 2010A short video (5 min) that shows most of the elements of a Perlan flight, using the X-Plane simulation.
(Note: the original posting was lost in the great database disaster and has been re-created manually.)
